On 13-14 February, the Connecting Seas conference was held in Hamburg, with the objective of formulating an agreed maritime policy for all EU member states.

The discussion forum of this international conference brought together acknowledged specialists in the sector to discuss the spatial planning and functional zoning of maritime waters, including representatives of shipbuilders and major scientific institutes, as well as other industry experts.

As one of the countries with a Baltic coastline, Russia is also part of the maritime activity of the region, although to date little attention has been paid to spatial planning. Russia participated at this European conference as an observer.

The Russian side was represented by Morstroytechnology, together with FSUE Rosmorport and the Ermak Northwest Scientific and Research Institute of Maritime Spatial Planning.

Shipbuilding on the Baltic Sea is inextricably linked with the development of port infrastructure. Alexander Goloviznin, Morstroytechnology's Director of Logistics and Analytical Research, gave his assessment of the development prospects for Russia's Baltic ports.
