The project’s brief is the construction of a specialized coal port with a capacity of 20m tonnes per year in the Sukhodol Bay are in Primorsky Krai.

The port is to consist of:

  • a sea cargo terminal;
  • a rail cargo terminal;
  • storage facilities;
  • general utilities, security and com-munications systems etc.;
  • an approach channel, vessel traffic control system, ground support equipment;
  • border control checkpoint, admini-strative buildings.

The main objective of the port is to improve to the port infrastructure for small and medium-sized coal mining enterprises.

Basis for project implementation:

  • Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Primorsky Krai through 2025 approved by the Law of Primorsky Krai of 20.10.2008 No. 324-KZ;
  • Paragraph 35 of the Minutes of the meeting with Prime Minister V.V. Putin on 24.01.2012 No. VP-P9-1pr.

Coal transshipment volume per annum:

  • 1st phase 2017 – 6m tonnes;
  • 2nd phase 2019 – 12m tonnes;
  • 3d phase 2021 – 20m tonnes (full capacity).

Total complex area – 170.0 hectares.

Total coal storage volume – over 1.2m tonnes.

Operational water area – 18.9 hectares.

Cargo terminals – 2.

Maximum estimated vessel capacity – 120,000 tonnes.

Transshipment rate – 3,500 t/h.

Key technological and technical solutions for environmental protection:

  • Layout solutions for the port facilities: distance from the water area – 500 m, distance from nearest settlements – 6 km, protection by natural land relief;
  • Use of closed conveyor galleries;
  • Coal irrigation at all transshipment and transportation locations;
  • Use of aspiration and other additional technological devices for coal-dust control;
  • Widespread use of dust barriers;
  • Cleaning of the port territory and gondola cars with mobile pneumatic machines;
  • Collection of rainwater from the port territory and treatment at modern local wastewater treatment plant.
